Get to Know Thrive Mentoring - The Founders

 

My name is Fran Henshelwood and I am a Co-Founder of Thrive Mentoring.

For over two decades, I have dedicated my career to supporting young people in their education. My background is in Neuroscience and Psychology, which helps me understand the deeper ways students learn and grow.

My work has given me a wide range of experiences. Over the years I have tutored and mentored students across GCSE, A-Level, and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs. I'm also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and work with students as a counsellor and therapist. What I enjoy most about working with students is facilitating a very personal and individual learning journey, watching their confidence grow and their goals come to fruition! 

This blend of understanding how the mind works, offering therapeutic support, and providing high-level academic guidance shapes our unique approach at Thrive Mentoring. My aim is to help students not just succeed, but to truly reach their full intellectual and personal potential, navigating their studies with clear focus and strong self-belief.

My name is Monika Hayrapet and I am a Co-Founder of Thrive Mentoring.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to the invisible threads that connect learning, emotion, and personal growth. With a background in science, mentoring, and coaching, I’ve spent much of my professional life supporting young people and families, helping them navigate high-pressure environments and grow in confidence.

Parenting both IB and A-Level students, living internationally, and navigating major health challenges have all deepened my insight into how stress, self-doubt, and external expectations can affect a young person’s ability to thrive. I’ve come to understand that the journey is never just academic, it’s about combining emotional support with practical tools like time management, planning, and effective study strategies.

That’s why Thrive Mentoring exists. We believe students don’t need to be ‘fixed’, they need to be heard, guided and empowered. Every student has potential, it’s just waiting to be uncovered. Through mentoring, we help them reconnect with that potential, build healthy habits and rediscover their sense of calm, clarity and confidence.
